Meet Kate, the Chef behind your menu...

If you’ve enjoyed a You Plate It dinner, you have Kate to thank. The locally trained chef works to oversee the entire weekly menu creation process. Working closely with Paul, Mark, and our suppliers/farmers, Kate brings her professional experience, and passion for fresh local ingredients, direct to your kitchen.

YPI: What sparked your culinary interest?
Kate: Food has always been important in my family. Whether it’s a special event, a celebration or holiday, we always get around the table together. After finishing high school I knew I wanted to pursue food as a career.

YPI: Why did you choose to work at You Plate It?
Kate: I have a young family, and the late hours of working in professional kitchens was getting too much. I love to cook with fresh local ingredients, and the values of the business perfectly aligned with mine. It's great that I get to work from home, set my own hours and have the autonomy to share my passion for food and cooking with thousands of people all across Perth.

YPI: What's your number-one piece of advice for home cooks?
Kate: Focus on one thing at a time. If you want to make a great dinner, concentrate on the thing you're doing, and put all your effort there. Because you’re not trying to juggle a million different things, it will make the process seem more effortless.
